Nicholas Oakwell, British courtier returns to Couture Fashion Week with his suspenseful collection – Hitchcock. Inspired by one of the most celebrated, imitated, and beloved directors of the 20th century, Alfred Hitchcock and his obsession with his mesmerising leading lady which was Grace Kelly.
The collection is presented inescapably in a short film. A creative decision marking the sign of the times but also mirroring the evolution of Oakwell as a designer. “Runway shows seem so unnatural now, when you can see the pieces move in the real world or at least the world in my head! Creating the movie we are able to present the collection in the world I had envisioned, control all aspects & make people feel the depth and story of each design.”
The thematic collection of 13 looks has an empowering and boundary-pushing drama throughout. From the blood red skirt suit which is fully beaded in glass bugles, teamed with oversized headwear which is drenched in cup sequins to the killer heel. Other key looks include a goddess silk georgette draped dress and dinner coat lined in ostrich feathers. The opulence of the opera coat in silk gold lurex brocade, to the pearl necklace cocktail dress, fragile in its vulnerability and strong in seduction with its crystal choker.
